Oppo Reno6 Pro Review: A Smartphone With Fantastic Features

In this article, we will be reviewing the Oppo Reno 6 Pro. It is a smartphone with an incredible display, a great camera, and excellent battery life. The Reno 6 Pro also has features that make it easier for those who are visually impaired to use.

These features include Voice-over screen reading technology and a 3D carousel interface for navigating apps, shortcuts, and tools. The phone is also an excellent choice if you are looking for a phone with expandable storage. Oppo Reno 6 Pro looks like the perfect phone for 2018!

It seems like the market is already saturated with smartphones. But there are always one or two brands that stick out, like the Oppo Reno6 Pro. The Oppo Reno6 Pro is a 6.3-inch device with a 12MP camera that creates stunning photos and videos.

It has features like face recognition, in-screen fingerprint scanning, and an OLED display for vivid colors. If you’re looking for a new phone, this might be the one to check out!

Smartphones have become an essential part of daily life. We use them for everything from checking emails to playing games and watching videos. The only problem is, the more we do with our phones, the faster they seem to break down.

Every time you drop your phone or it gets wet, the internal components can become irreparably damaged. This is why many people buy new smartphones as soon as their old ones break. With this in mind, it's important to find a smartphone that stands up to the wear and tear of everyday life.

That's where the Oppo Reno6 Pro comes in! Here are some product features that make this device stand out from other options on the market today:

The Oppo Reno6 Pro Design

The Oppo Reno6 Pro looks stunning when you first see it. The device is built with 2.5D curved glass with a special texture on the back to make it look unique and comfortable to hold. Even though it is a new design, the Oppo Reno6 Pro has a mirror-like finish that feels very smooth on the hand.

The handset has a stylish mirror like finish, which gives it a very elegant appearance. I actually love the design, because it makes the device look unique and beautiful. The phone has an octa-core MediaTek MT6762A 64-bit processor that’s paired with 3GB of RAM.

Oppo has improved the performance of the Oppo Reno6 Pro, by introducing Smart Balance technology. One of the great things about this device is the large 4,230mAh battery.

➤ Display

With a 6-inch screen, the Oppo Reno6 Pro offers a similar aspect ratio as that of the Redmi Note 6 Pro and Xiaomi Mi A2. This aspect ratio works out great for watching videos, as one can directly enjoy high-definition videos without any side-effects.

However, like other phones in this segment, the resolution is limited to 1080p. The Oppo Reno6 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 450 system-on-chip (SoC). We have seen it in a couple of phones from Oppo in the past, and we can safely say that it offers excellent performance.

However, this is mainly because of its more powerful Octa-core processor which offers better efficiency and longer life for the CPU. Oppo recently confirmed that it plans to launch a variant of the R6 Pro with 6GB of RAM.

➤ Performance

The Oppo R7s and R7s Plus came with three variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM. However, the new Oppo R7s is a variant with 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM and comes with a cheaper price tag of Rs 23,990.

Display The R7s boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p display with thin bezels on the sides. The Oppo R7s is virtually the same as the R7s Plus with a 6-inch screen, but the resolution has been increased to 2160 x 1080p for the Plus variant.

OS Both the smartphones run on Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.0 on top. The R7s has a dual camera setup on the rear side with 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel sensors.

On the front, it has a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies. The Oppo R7s is backed by a 3,200mAh battery with Oppo's proprietary Super VOOC charging.

➤ Camera

The Oppo R5 Pro had dual camera setup at the back comprising 16MP and 2MP sensors. The new Oppo R6 Pro gets a 16MP+20MP dual camera setup at the back, which is now stacked vertically instead of horizontally like the R5 Pro.

It also boasts AI features that enhance the photography experience. It also gets a 20MP selfie camera on the front which is accompanied by an LED flash. Oppo is also touting 3D Beauty feature which allows users to enhance the selfie shots, with the help of a 3D bokeh effect.

The camera performance is just as good as the R5 Pro. The colours are accurate and the shots look decent when clicked in low light.

Software

The Oppo Reno6 Pro runs the latest ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. We first saw the 5.5-inch smartphone in the Gold color with the banner that it will receive the ColorOS 6 update. In the present review, we have been provided the device in a Blue-Lit variant.

The new ColorOS 5.2 brings along support for face unlock as well as fingerprint scanning which is similar to the OPPO Find X. For those unaware, the Oppo Find X launched in India recently is the first smartphone to support 3D face unlock technology.

OPPO also introduced the App Vault feature, a one-stop app-to-app access, on the Oppo Reno6 Pro. As per the company, the App Vault can protect your apps from any third-party attack.

➤ User Interface

The Oppo Reno6 Pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 skin on top. The company has added some features to enhance the user experience. For instance, Oppo has added a gesture navigation feature in the new smartphone.

The whole UI is based on Google's Android Go platform and there are no additional pre-loaded apps. Performance Talking about the performance, the Oppo Reno6 Pro performs really well. However, it is a mid-end smartphone.

Although it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 4 GB RAM, you don't expect good performance from it. To be honest, the handset has a decent user interface and gaming performance is decent. However, the heavy gaming will drain your battery quickly and make it unavailable to charge.

➤ App Store

Android Web Store At the moment, the OPPO Reno6 Pro is priced at Rs. 22,990 and will go on sale starting May 25. The phone will be available in three colour variants - Gold, Rose Gold, and Black. The OPPO Reno6 Pro will be available exclusively on Amazon, Flipkart, and OPPO's own store.

The specifications of the Oppo Reno6 Pro include a 5.5-inch full-HD display, an octa-core MediaTek MT6750T SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage with support for expandability via microSD card.

On the camera front, it has a 16-megapixel rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary camera with an f/2.4 aperture. On the front, it has a 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture, and a LED flash. It is backed by a 3,600mAh battery. It supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.

➤ Security

Like the previous model, the Oppo Reno6 Pro comes with the water-drop notch, where the front camera and sensors are placed. However, there are some changes in the cameras department, such as a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor.

The secondary sensor is useful for capturing portrait images. Additionally, it has a 3D Time of Flight (TOF) camera. The camera also features AI features, which is powered by an IMX 576 image sensor. The sensors allow it to take portrait shots with backgrounds blurring the details.

Audio The smartphone has a single 13-megapixel camera on the rear, while there is a dual rear camera setup on the front. This setup comprises a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor.

Battery Life and Charging

The battery on the Oppo Reno6 Pro is slightly smaller than the battery on the Oppo R15 Pro. But the battery life on the latter is nothing less than amazing, given the superior specifications. I charged the phone at 10:30 pm and left it on for five hours straight.

The battery survived up to 60 percent charge. I charged the phone again at 9:30 pm and left it on until 10:00 am the next day. The phone showed 50 percent charge at that time. The battery on the Oppo Reno6 Pro lasted longer than the Oppo R15 Pro's battery life despite being smaller in size.

It has a respectable 24-bit DAC and does not distort easily, so that's a plus. However, the earphone jack is missing, which does mean users are stuck with a proprietary adapter.

Conclusion

With the Reno series, Oppo is trying to build a niche in the budget smartphone segment. Its top-end variant, Oppo R17 Pro is priced at Rs 45,990. For the new Oppo Reno6 Pro, the company is selling the smartphone at Rs 14,990 and it is really tempting for the users. The Oppo R9S is the first smartphone under this range.

However, it doesn’t have many features to make it worth buying. The top-end variant, the Oppo R17 Pro, however, comes with features such as in-display fingerprint scanner, triple rear cameras, waterdrop-style notch, a screen that covers the entire front of the smartphone, and more. The Oppo Reno6 Pro is one of the cheapest phones that offer all the above mentioned features.
