The first 5G smartphone with a price tag of Rs. 29,990. V20 Pro is India’s first 5G smartphone. Launched by Vivo, it has a lot to offer. It seems like everyone is jumping on the 5G bandwagon. And it’s not just the telecom giants. 

Smartphone companies are jumping in too. Vivo just launched their 5G-enabled V20 Pro in India, and it’s already up for pre-order on Flipkart. The Vivo V20 Pro 5G will cost Rs. 29,990, but you can get it for Rs. 24,990 if you purchase it during Flipkart’s Independence Day Sale on August 15-16.

The device is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM. The phone also has a 6.41-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, surrounded by a notch. It comes with a triple-camera setup on the back and a dual-camera unit on the front.

Introducing the Vivo V20 Pro 5G

The Vivo V20 Pro 5G has a 4000mAh battery and has received a Bluetooth variant along with two 'kicks' audio sets with multiple components. In the US, it will carry a price tag of $530 (approximately Rs. 33,500). There is no information on the India price or the launch of the handset yet. 

Vivo V20 Pro 5G specifications The Vivo V20 Pro 5G will have a 6.39-inch OLED display that uses an in-display fingerprint sensor. The handset runs Android 9 Pie and also comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. 

A key feature is that the handset will support 5G for the first time in a global smartphone. The handset will be fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery that has support for fast charging. The dual camera setup includes a 24-megapixel primary sensor along with an f/1.

What is 5G?

5G refers to the fifth generation of wireless network technology that promises to transmit data at speeds that are 30 times faster than that of 4G. This is expected to help the advanced telecommunication features such as augmented and virtual reality. 

Vivo V20 Pro 5G Specifications As the 5G technology is yet to be commercially activated, the Vivo V20 Pro 5G does not have many of its specifications revealed. 

However, we do know that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and sport a 6.41-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. 

It is also touted to come with 8GB of RAM, 512GB of internal storage and triple rear camera setup. The phone runs Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Why should you care about 5G?

You should care about 5G because Vivo has included a 5G phone under its "preferred line" at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Monday, giving consumers a sneak peak of what the next-generation network is capable of. 

Vivo says the 5G mode will support 5G connectivity, in addition to 4G, on the Vivo V20 Pro 5G. This essentially means users will be able to connect the phone to the internet even if it is just a 2G network. 

On top of it, there will be a Jovi AI Engine that will allow the users to interact with the phone in 3D. Vivo V20 Pro 5G Specifications The dual-SIM Vivo V20 Pro 5G is a member of Vivo's top-end V series. 

It runs FunTouch OS 4.5 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. It features a 6.4-inch full-HD (1080x2316 pixels) AMOLED FullView Display 2.


The Vivo V20 Pro 5G is a semi-bezel-less smartphone that uses a metal body with a ceramic back. The glass back has antenna bands visible. A rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is present beneath the vertically aligned dual camera setup. 

The rear panel is only slightly curved at its edges. The handset will be available in gradient colour options - cherry and black. On the back, the gradient finish is a little hard to see from the back view. The glossy rear cover appears to be made of glass. 

There's a vertical strip that sticks out from the Vivo logo. The Vivo V20 Pro 5G flaunts a 6.4-inch full-HD Super AMOLED panel that has a water drop-shaped notch on top. The presence of a water drop notch is said to make the panel look more compact and minimize the need to increase the top and bottom bezels.

What's in the Box?

The Vivo V20 Pro 5G smartphone that sports a gradient design is bundled with a pair of wired earphones. The handset is fitted with a TPU case, complete with the Vivo logo on the back. A SIM removal tool and a 45W adapter are present within the packaging. 

Vivo V20 Pro 5G Specifications The base variant of the Vivo V20 Pro 5G sports a 6.41-inch IPS LCD screen with 19:9 aspect ratio and a water drop notch at the top. Under its hood, the smartphone makes use of a Snapdragon 710 SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage space. 

For imaging, this smartphone is backed by a dual camera module at its rear. The dual cameras are stacked vertically with a 13-megapixel primary sensor. It sports a secondary 3D ToF sensor for image recognition. It houses an LED flash, selfie camera, and an IR sensor.


The device runs on the same Snapdragon 670 SoC as the Vivo V11 Pro. Under the hood, there is a 6.39-inch full HD+ 19.5:9 display with a resolution of 1080x2316 pixels and a 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio. The device runs on Android 9 Pie with custom FunTouch OS on top. 

In terms of photography, the device comes with a triple-camera setup. The primary setup consists of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a third time-of-flight (ToF) 3D mapping sensor for facial recognition. 

There is a 25-megapixel selfie sensor with f/2.0 aperture. On the connectivity front, the device offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and comes with fast charging support.


The Vivo V20 Pro 5G comes with a 24-megapixel front camera with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It has a dual-camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The Vivo V20 Pro has dual-rear cameras with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. 

The Vivo V20 Pro has a non-removable 3,400mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the FunTouch OS 4.5 on top. The phone will be available in Starry Purple and Dazzling Gold colour variants. 

The front-facing selfie camera will also come with AR Stickers. Fingerprint Sensor The fingerprint sensor is placed in the form of an in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will go on sale in Singapore on January 15.

The display has an aspect ratio of 19.3:9. Processor Under the hood, the Vivo V20 Pro 5G employs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz, paired with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone also has 128GB of onboard storage that's not expandable via microSD card.


If you want a phone with 5G connection from early next year, you will need to purchase the Vivo V20 Pro 5G. The phone is virtually a large, clear LED screen, with a seamless design. The lower front edge features a circular camera setup. 

The rear has a vertical dual camera setup, for the main and depth sensors. The device supports 5G connectivity and is powered by the Snapdragon 855. 

It looks like the model will be priced at around Rs. 29,990, according to some analysts, and may be exclusive to the e-commerce platform Amazon. It is unclear how the phone will be priced in the domestic market.
